With the longer days nature is beginning to express beautiful colors and sounds, as flowers open up and birds congregate. Many seeds have been planted and new life is spiraling forward. The frogs are back in the pond and the cattails are pushing through the shallows toward the sky. Shooting star flowers along with many of the fruit trees dot the landscape with a fury of petals. It is one of the most invigorating times of year, when creations are nourished and unfurl into existence.

One evening at Full Bloom, Quinton, James, and Kirsty dazzled us with a pop-up dinner . It was a four course meal that had our taste buds delighted beyond even the normal standards. The home-made whole wheat bread came out first with cultured butter, salty bone marrow, and sweet jelly. Second, was a really nice green salad with wild miner’s lettuce from the property. Then a rolled pork creation pleased the crowd that was crispy on the outside and supple on the inside. It was garnished with a pesto sauce, rutabaga mash, and fennel sprigs. Yum! Last, which most of wished we could have had 3 more scoops, came a beat ice cream that knocked our socks off. It was sweet and yet balanced. A few pieces of chocolate topped it off. What a treat.

A new resident, Juniper, had her second birthday and we had a yummy lime pie for her cake. Seems like all we do here is eat 🙂 Easter was a blast and we of course had a wonderful meal to celebrate. The egg hunt was fun and the scavenger hunt was even better. Janelle led us here and there with creative rhymes that eventually brought us to a basket full of goodies. Good thing there is weekly volleyball to get us moving around after all the delicious food.

Another fun game was introduced during our latest Funday. It is called Sprout Tag. A fitting name because just when you think that you have won the game, new players stand up ready to take you on. Everyone is “IT”. When you get tagged you crouch down and keep an eye on the person who tagged you. If they get tagged, then you get to stand up and continue playing. Eventually one person wins or you run around having fun for hours. Either way it is fun. When you are crouching down you can actually tag people in order to get back in as well. One of the best tag games ever.
